What is Image Rotator?
Sideways or mirrored photos are a common annoyance from scanners, older cameras, or accidental camera-orientation flips. This tool rotates in 90-degree increments (no interpolation, no quality loss) and optionally flips horizontally or vertically. It processes any number of images in one go and preserves the source format by default.
How to rotate an image online
- 1Drop one or many images.
- 2Pick a rotation angle (0/90/180/270) and, if needed, toggle flip H or flip V.
- 3Pick output format (same as input by default).
- 4Click 'Apply to all' and download the results.
Use Cases
Fix sideways scans
Rotate a batch of scanned documents that were fed in landscape by mistake.
Correct camera roll orientation
Fix phone photos where the EXIF orientation tag was ignored.
Mirror images for design work
Flip H produces a mirrored version — useful for symmetric layouts or when designing for RTL languages.
Tips & Best Practices
- ▸90-degree rotations are lossless: the tool rearranges pixels, it doesn't interpolate.
- ▸If you need a small angle rotation (say 3 degrees to correct horizon tilt), a raster editor is the right tool — we don't offer arbitrary-angle rotate to avoid the quality loss and expectations mismatch that come with it.
- ▸Rotation preserves transparency (PNG/WebP) — no white background is added.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is 'rotate' different from 'flip'?
Rotate spins the image around its center by 90/180/270 degrees. Flip mirrors the image along an axis: horizontal flip is a left-right mirror, vertical flip is top-bottom.
Does rotating lose quality?
For 90/180/270 degree rotations, no pixel data is resampled — the output has the same fidelity as the input. Non-multiple-of-90 rotations would resample (this tool doesn't do those to avoid quality loss).
Can I rotate and flip in one pass?
Yes. Pick an angle and toggle flip H/V simultaneously — the tool applies rotation then flip, in one Canvas pass.
